A tent with a view

My favourite camping holiday in the Dordogne

My Mum first took me to France in 2018. We went to stay at the Camping Le Paradis campsite at Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère in the Dordogne area.

It was my first overseas holiday and I loved it. The campsite was great, right on the side of the river. It had three swimming pools, a play area as well as a cafe and shop. You could also hire go karts to cycle round the site. We hired a car and it took us only a couple of hours to drive here from Bordeaux.

We did loads of exciting things when we were there. Here are some of my personal favourites.

We went to see the wall paintings at Lascaux as well as the Grotto de Rouffignac which is deep caves you can walk through. The history of everything was very interesting. The paintings at Lascaux are amazing.

One day we hired a canoe for a couple of hours on the river. That was really fun and I was able to jump in the river and swim. There are plenty of places to visit for children including the aquarium, mini golf and climbing at Le Bugue.

One evening we went to see a local festival in a nearby village. They had giant puppets marching through the streets. I didn’t understand what the story was about, but it was fun to see.

I would definitely go back here and have asked my Mum to take me again.
